I also love designing and making stained glass patchwork banners for churches; the technique lends itself very well to spectacular, bold, modern designs as well as more traditional ones.

Here are some of the designs I've done, with details too of those whose patterns are available.

This piece of work consists of five inter-related panels, each roughly 15ft x 2ft, commissioned by Shirley Baptist Church in Southampton, to hang at the front of their building. I've written about it in 'Showpieces'.

Two commissions for two churches in Shoreham-by-Sea in West Sussex, working from drawn designs by Geoff Turner.

On the left is a design for a stained glass window, for St Nicholas Church in Old Shoreham-by-Sea. Though the design was chosen for a window, I was asked to see if I could reproduce and interpret it in stained glass patchwork - and this is the result. Both I and Geoff were really pleased with the result, and later worked on the design on the right, for St Nicholas' sister church, St Marys. A wealth of Christian symbolism has come into this, as well as many images connected with the sea.

Two of a set of four banners commissioned by Panshanger Church in Welwyn Garden City; the banners were designed and made to the church's specifications in early 2003. Each banner is 7ft x 4ft. Patterns for these designs are available - see details below if you're interested in buying the patterns.
